I'm 66, retired, a former teacher who also had my own business for a few years, and most recently worked with individuals with developmental disabilities. I've also experienced homelessness, due largely to my then-untreated type II bipolar disorder. That disease has been in remission since 2016. I've been sober since August 25th 2003, and I quit smoking on September 1st 2014. I've been married to the same woman for 44 years, although we've been separated three times. I taught history, among other things, and I'm still interested in and curious about humanity's past. I started playing board wargames (Avalon Hill) in 8th grade. Started playing D&D my sophomore year in college. Started playing computer games (on an Apple IIe in 1983), and still do. Bet you can guess what kind! I'm also a huge Terry Pratchett fan. I had a podcast about his Discworld for about 2 1/2 years right around the time Covid hit. I'm getting a hankering to start doing podcasting again. I'm compassionate, patient, and understanding. I'm also a good listener. I'm easily discouraged, though, and I don't suffer fools gladly. I have strong opinions about the state of the US and the world, but don't feel a pressing need to share them. I consider myself to be spiritual, but not religious. I've found wisdom in the Celtic tradition, primarily, although I see it to some degree in all spiritual traditions. I am a good conversationalist, and I am interested in friendship. Making connections in today’s world can be such a hard thing. And, through circumstance and accident, I find myself without friends as I move closer to the Final Boarding. I’d like to make one or two before I do. I generally am online to accept calls between 2 pm and 6 pm GMT.
