Compassion and kindness dedicated and loyal, that's how friends and family describe me. I have many hobbies, interests, and pastimes, ranging from people, relationships, education, traveling, various sports, coin collecting, photography, plus many more. I have to share an amazing, inspirational positive story with all of you, (this woman changed my life). In 2007, I went to an old age home to visit a longtime friend of my father’s. I would exit the elevator and walk from one end of the building to the opposite end to get to his room, which was the very last room at the end of the hall. As i walked along the hall, i would see a series of windows approximately 40' long, the windows overlooked a beautiful garden, beyond the garden, there was a fence at the end of the property, beyond that was a remarkably busy road that carried people to places unknown through the city. Each time I went to visit our friend, i would see a woman in her wheelchair, she just sat there by the windows looking at the garden and the traffic passing by from her wheelchair. Of course, I would always have to stop and say hello and chat with her. Each visit and talk with her was more amazing than the previous one. She told me she was 104 years old, born in 1903. I was amazed by her memory, and things she experienced throughout her life. One day as we spoke, she had a tear in her lower eye lid, I asked her how she was that day? She talked about her dad being forced to go off and fight in WW1, leaving behind seven children for her mother to raise alone. Her father was never seen or heard from again, nor did he ever come home from battle. Then she began talking about her husband who was sent to fight in WW2, just like her father years earlier, her husband also perished and never returned. A few weeks later during a visit, she talked about her brothers, sisters, and her children, of whom she had two sons. She had outlived all of them. Her only friends were passing by in their vehicles, and the medical staff at the old age home. One day when I came to visit, she was gone, never to be seen again. What a life, what a human, what a story she had. To this day, I do not know her name or anything else about her. She changed me, changed my views, and changed my life forever, (thanks for that). Now, here I am to try to help others everyday, just like she helped me. Due to a recent, serious illness, I stopped working and now spend most of my days at home, and online. Because I am injured and ill, I hope to be able to help others in similar situations. I find the elderly, and disabled people to be fascinating. Between the struggles, challenges, hardships, loneliness, and difficulties faced every day, I always want to help. If I can help in some small way, maybe i can help by spreading and sharing positive feedback and challenging one another to be something greater. I hope I can do something positive for you! If you would like to chat with me. Feel free to reach out and call! Kind regards, Barry
