My name is Martijn, and I am a Dutch entrepreneur living in Amsterdam. I grew up in Rotterdam, but I had the incredible opportunity to spend a significant part of my youth in Jakarta, Indonesia, which ignited my love for adventure and diverse cultures. After finishing High School in Rotterdam I went to study at the Higher Hotelschool in The Hague, where I delved into the world of hospitality management. Eager to broaden my horizons, I pursued a Master's degree in Business Administration in Barcelona, I equipping myself with a solid foundation for my future endeavors. Fluent in Dutch and English, with an advanced grasp of Spanish, I understand the importance of effective communication in today's global landscape. Driven by my deep passion for dogs and my desire to make a meaningful impact, I made a bold move in 2021. Leaving my position at a renowned Dutch beer brand, I founded my own company, GULA DOG CARE. It's been an exhilarating journey designing, producing, and selling high quality dog products like leashes, collars, and harnesses (that I mostly produce myself). This venture allows me to combine my love for dogs with my entrepreneurial spirit, and I couldn't be happier. Beyond my professional pursuits, I find solace in nature and outdoor activities. Hiking, skiing, camping—anything that gets me out into the wild is my kind of adventure. I've also developed a passion for cooking, always up for experimenting with new recipes, even though I've had to adapt due to an autoimmune issue that required me to avoid gluten, soy, and milk. When I'm unwinding, you'll often find me enjoying a captivating movie or series, or appreciating the beauty of craftsmanship. Throughout my journey, I take immense pride in my accomplishments. I've successfully completed my studies, including earning a Master's degree, and I've also managed to purchase my own house—a true milestone. But perhaps my greatest achievement is welcoming Gula (the inspiration for my own company), my incredible four-year-old Vizsla, into my life. She brings so much joy and companionship every day. If there's one thing people appreciate about me, it's my kindness, honesty, and sense of humor. I genuinely value authentic connections and believe in treating others with respect and acceptance. Many friends and family members often turn to me for advice, knowing that I'm an attentive listener and possess the ability to ask thought-provoking questions that can lead to new perspectives. Looking ahead, I have big dreams for GULA DOG CARE. I aspire to build it into a globally recognized dog brand, known for its exceptional quality, active dog products and unwavering commitment to the well-being of our furry friends. With the overwhelming positive feedback from retailers and customers worldwide, I'm fueled with determination to make this vision a reality. I know it will take time, patience, and hard work, but I'm ready to give it my all. And of course, I couldn't imagine doing it without Gula by my side, along with countless other delightful dogs that will join us on this incredible journey.
